Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-23
This Privacy Policy describes how Arc ("Arc", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Arc mobile app and related services.
Information we collect
- Account information: the email address you sign in with (via Firebase Authentication), your chosen display name and handle, and an avatar derived from your account.
- Content you upload: videos, posters, captions, forum posts, and comments. These are stored in Google Cloud Storage and Postgres (database hosting by Neon) and may be visible to other Arc users.
- Device and usage information: app version, device model, OS version, IP address, crash logs, and in-app events (e.g. playback started, swipe to next video) used to operate and improve the service.
- Advertising identifiers: if you grant permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant ads.
- Payment information: if you join the Creator program, payout information is processed by Stripe. We never see your bank or card numbers.
How we use your information
- To operate Arc — deliver the feed, host your uploads, send notifications you opt into.
- To moderate content — investigate reports, enforce the Community Guidelines, suspend abusive accounts.
- To improve the service — debug crashes, measure feature usage, and tune the recommendation system.
- To show ads — including non-personalized ads when you do not grant tracking permission.
- To pay creators — via Stripe Connect, when you opt in.
How we share your information
We share data with service providers that help us run Arc, under contracts that limit their use of the data:
- Google Cloud (compute, object storage), Firebase (authentication, push notifications), Neon (Postgres database hosting).
- Google AdMob for advertising.
- Stripe for creator payouts.
- Sentry for crash and error reporting.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect Arc, our users, or the public from harm.
Your choices
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, uploads, and engagement history. Some logs are retained briefly for fraud and abuse investigations.
- Tracking: change the App Tracking permission anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking.
- Notifications: manage push notifications in Profile → Settings, or revoke at the OS level.
- Access and correction: contact support@arcapp.stream for a copy of your data or to correct it.
Children and young users
Arc is not intended for users under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We collect a declared date of birth at signup and refuse accounts that do not meet the minimum age. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact support@arcapp.stream and we will remove the account.
For users between 13 and 17, Arc respects iOS Screen Time and Android Family Link parental controls — including content restrictions, communication limits, and Communication Safety — as configured on the device. Posts the creator has flagged as "mature themes" are hidden from viewers below the rating threshold. We do not knowingly serve personalised advertising to users under 18 and we do not sell personal data of users under 16. UK Age-Appropriate Design Code and California Age-Appropriate Design Code apply to processing of users in those jurisdictions; questions about either may be sent to support@arcapp.stream.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we permanently remove your profile and uploads. Aggregated, de-identified analytics may be retained.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 7 days before they take effect.
